The General informationThe KARL STORZ CALCULASE II (Art. no.: 27 7502 20-1) is a Ho:YAG desktop laser. It emits a mid-infrared beam at a wavelength of 2080 nm. The laser energy is transmitted into the tissue via a fiberoptic fiber, the maximum laser power being 20 W. The laser energy generated by the CALCULASE II system enables the optimal lithotripsy of all calculus compositions in the human body and soft tissue treatment such as the ablation of strictures, stenoses, and tumors, for example. Thanks to its desktop design the unit is extremely mobile and is easy to transport using special, retractable handles. All controls and displays required for operating the unit are located on the front of the CALCULASE II. The laser has a user friendly control panel and easy-to-read LED displays, which make the unit very easy to operate, and safe.
Ho:YAG laser The CALCULASE II is a Ho:YAG laser, which emits a mid-infrared beam. A laser rod, coated with Holmium, is optically excited by a flash lamp, causing energy to be transmitted into the crystal. This energy excites electrons in the Holmium to a higher level of energy. As soon as these electrons revert to their original level of energy, photons with a precisely defined energy difference (Holmium wavelength 2.1m) are released. As a result of a process of ‘stimulated emission’, these photons in the Ho:YAG lasing medium cause other photons to be released, inducing, in a snowball effect, the formation of a beam of photons of identical direction of travel, wavelength, phase and polarization. To amplify this effect the beam is passed back and forth between mirrors in the laser resonator and a small percentage is released via a fiber in the form of a laser beam.International ShippingWe do our best to ship items the same day the payment has cleared, in some instances we are unable to.
